Prof. Sheena Reilly

Sheena Reilly is Professor of Speech Pathology in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Melbourne. In addition, she is Associate Director of Clinical and Public Health research at the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute. Sheena received her B.App.Sc (Speech and Hearing) from Curtin University and her PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, University of London. Sheena is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, the UK Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists and Speech Pathology Australia. She is an Honorary Research Fellow with the Australian Stuttering Research Centre, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Sydney and Visiting Professor, Neurosciences Unit, Institute of Child Health, University of London. Her research focuses is on childhood language and communication problems.
She has more than date 150 publications, including 111 peer-reviewed original works in highly ranked journals such as the Pediatrics, British Medical Journal and Brain. Sheena’s research is multidisciplinary and investigates the etiology and characterization of childhood language and communication problems. She has attracted over 14 million in competitive research funding, from bodies such as NHMRC, ARC and NIH. She was awarded her second, 5-year NHMRC practitioner fellowship in 2013. Collectively she has mentored 24 PhD and Masters students, 18 as a primary supervisor.
