Bio
Ping is a PhD candidate currently conducting research for both The Child Language Lab and The HEARing CRC at Macquarie University. Ping’s main research interest is to explore children’s acquisition process of the Mandarin tone system. The population being studied involves both typically developing children and children with hearing impairment.
Ping completed his BA of Chinese Literature and Linguistics from Fuyang Normal University in 2012, and went on to finish the MA of Linguistics and Applied Linguistics from Nanjing Normal University in 2015.

Children’s acquisition of Mandarin tones in context
PhD Project
This project investigates issues related to the acquisition of Mandarin tones, including the citation tones and tonal variations in different context, e.g. neutral tone and tone sandhi phenomena. The population involves both typically developing children and children with hearing impairment. The realizations of these tonal phenomenon in the input to children will be investigated as well.
