Paul Guthrie

Role: HEARing CRC Board - Nominee Director

Paul began his career in the clinical environment of pathology, working as a medical scientist at a large Queensland private pathology laboratory. Paul spent 12 years in the laboratory ultimately as the haematology laboratory manager. Paul’s commercial career commenced in 1994 in a Technical Support role for a diagnostics company, supporting the laboratory scientists in the training and utilisation of their diagnostics equipment.

He enjoyed a successful diagnostics sales career, especially in the corporate arena, working in National and ANZ roles for global organisations such as Chiron Diagnostics and Bayer Diagnostics ultimately joining Siemens Diagnostics in 2007. In his diagnostics’ roles, Paul worked closely with large healthcare organisations, negotiating and facilitating the implementation of large scale automation into numerous laboratories across Mayne Health, Symbion Pathology and Primary Healthcare.

In 2008, Paul joined Siemens Hearing Instruments as the Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand. Siemens Hearing (now Sivantos) continues to enjoy the market leadership position in Australia and has recently been re-awarded the supply contract for Australian Hearing, the largest provider of Australian Government hearing services.
