A/Prof. Angela Morgan

Role: Project Leader

Angela is Head of the Neuroscience of Speech group at the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, and Director of Research and Teaching for Speech Pathology at the University of Melbourne. Angela’s research work focuses on the neurobiology of child speech and language disorders.

Her vision is to bring neuroscientific evidence to everyday practice in Speech Pathology to optimise outcomes for children affected by genetic based speech and language disorders. Current practice is focused on assessment and treatment of surface based speech symptoms. We understand little of the underlying neurobiology of these conditions. Angela’s research has examined genotype-phenotype relationships and examined the neural correlates of inherited and acquired speech and language disorders in children to better understand gene-brain-behaviour relationships in this field.
