Profile
Mark Harrison holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Communications), PIT and Post Graduate Diploma in Digital Computer Engineering, RMIT. He has worked for the University of Melbourne and the Bionic Ear Institute on the development of Cochlear Implants since 1981.
Mark's work has involved the design and production of laboratory equipment and portable sound processing devices used to test cochlear implants and signal processing methods. Projects have also included fundamental reasearch investigating neural responses to acoustic and electrical stimulation on the hearing nerves, as well as the development of practical implants, electrodes, and sound processing hardware and associated DSP and PC software. Current projects in the HEARing CRC include development of electronic hearing protection earmuffs and associated instrumentation for the measurement of noise exposure during workplace and recreational activities. Areas of interest include electronic hardware and software engineering for real time signal processing systems.
