Robert Mannell currently carries out research in the areas of phonetics and phonology, speech synthesis, auditory processing of speech, speech perception, speech acoustics and the evaluation of speech technology.

Robert has been an academic in the Linguistics Department at Macquarie University since 1987 and currently teaches in the fields of phonetics and phonology, speech acoustics, speech physiology, speech technology, auditory physiology and psychoacoustics.
