Biography

HEARing CRC Supervisor: Bram Van Dun, Harvey Dillon and Catherine McMahon

HEARing CRC Project: R4.7.1

Title:  Rapid Auditory Cortical Evaluation.

Detail: Cortical auditory evoked potentials (CAEPs) are emerging as an important tool in the evaluation of hearing aid and cochlear implant fitting in infants. The aim of this project is to identify a method for evaluating the functional outcomes both objectively and more rapidly than current test protocols allow.

This is important for two reasons. Firstly, it will allow a more concise evaluation of how the brain normally processes rapid presented sounds. Secondly, the recording of functional outcomes more quickly will be particularly beneficial for infants who have difficulty maintaining attention for long periods.
