Title:  Outcomes with Cochlear Implants for Prelingually Deaf Adults.

Detail: This study aims to investigate predictive factors that can be used to determine whether a prelingually deaf adult has a good outcome with their cochlear implant. A combination of psychophysics, electrophysiology, speech perception and language data obtained pre-operatively, will be correlated with speech perception and questionnaire data post-operatively to provide insights into individual patient variables which may be used to predict outcomes for this patient group. In turn, this will allow clinicians at the RVEEH to counsel prospective cochlear implant patients appropriately, enabling the patient to make a fully informed decision about cochlear implantation based upon realistic expectations of outcomes.
